MAC SOOKASA NOT OPENING MAC
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with networks that require any kind of authentication other than a WPA or WPA2 Personal password. Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. For a walkthrough, see here:ĭon't import the Guest account, if it was enabled on the old system. That’s when you import the data from one of your backups. When you reboot, you'll be prompted to go through the initial setup process.
MAC SOOKASA NOT OPENING PASSWORD
If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin. This operation will destroy all data on the volume, so you had be better be sure of your backups. You must be certain that you can restore everything to the state it's in now.īoot into Recovery, launch Disk Utility, and erase the startup volume. The backups can be made with Time Machine or with a cloning tool such as Disk Utility. If you like, you can try to erase and recreate the boot volume, but I don't know whether it will do any good.īack up all data to at least two different storage devices, if you haven't already done so.

It's very likely that your boot drive is failing, or that you have some other hardware fault. Same problem(s)?Īfter testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. You must know your login password in order to log in. The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. *Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.

The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Please read this whole message before doing anything.
